Town Council Successful in UK Shared Prosperity Grant Application

Elloughton cum Brough Town Council are pleased to have been awarded a grant totalling £13,500.00 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The grant will fund the completion of a feasibility study completed by The Retail Group.

A feasibility study is a preliminary exploration of a proposed project or undertaking to determine its merits and viability. The Town Council hope that the completion of a feasibility will act as an enabler for improved community access to facilities and services, or to facilitate the sustainability of community facilities.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. The first stage of public consultation has now started. The consultation is running for eight weeks, from 1 June to 27 July. As a community that is located within 1 km of our emerging preferred corridor, residents may wish to read the information in full and contribute to the survey.

Age UK East Riding to help eligible residents with one-off cost of living payment

East Riding residents over the age of 85, who live in properties which fall in council tax bands A and B and are in receipt of council tax support will soon receive a one-off payment of £80 to help with the cost-of-living crisis.

Age UK East Riding, who had to stop providing services some years ago and is about to be wound up, is using the money left in its reserves to make the payment to around 1,300 eligible households.

Those who qualify for the payment will shortly receive a letter from Age UK East Riding and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, who are administering the payments, giving them details of how they can collect the £80.

Darryl Stephenson, chairman of Age UK East Riding, said: “The trustees of Age UK East Riding are very much aware of the extreme financial pressures currently facing elderly people with the ever-increasing costs of energy bills and fuel.

“I appreciate that the individual payment isn’t large but hopefully it will be of some assistance to the recipient and will help us fulfil our commitment to support those elderly people in need in the East Riding.

“I would also like to thank the council for their help in getting the money to those who are in the greatest need.”

Councillor Jonathan Owen, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Everyone is struggling due to the increase in the cost of living so we are delighted to help Age UK East Riding to get this payment to some of our most vulnerable residents.”

The Rural Services Network in partnership with the Citizens Advice is running a Rural Cost of Living Household Survey.

Official Opening of 'The Jungle' at Elloughton Road Play Park

We would like to thank all those who attended the opening of our new piece of playground equipment, ‘The Jungle’ on Wednesday 30th November 2022.

Good Afternoon, I would like to thank you all for coming. We are here today to celebrate the official opening of our new piece of playground equipment, the “Jungle” from Playscheme.

We at Elloughton-cum-Brough Town Council are delighted that the project is now complete and in use for the children of Elloughton-cum-Brough. We are continuously striving to upgrade our community facilities and look forward to sharing with you our future plans and projects for 2023.

Finally, I’d like to say a few thank you’s to all the people who helped make this happen. To the Town Council office staff, thank you for your hard work securing the new equipment as well as the successful completion of the grant. Thank you to the team at Playscheme, for your excellent service and efficient installation of the new equipment. And finally, we are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation for providing the additional funding required for the purchase of the equipment, as we would not have been able to go ahead without their support.

Work begins on installation of new playground equipment in Elloughton-cum-Brough.

Building work is under way to install ‘The Jungle’ from Playscheme for children at Elloughton Road Playground.

The project, which is being funded by a £15,544.00 grant from FCC Communities Foundation as well as additional funding of £4114.98 by Elloughton cum Brough Town Council, will provide, once it is opened in the next few days.

Cllr Chris Duckles, Chair of Elloughton-cum-Brough Town Council Environment Committee is excited that the new equipment is on site and that the project is starting to take shape. He says: “It’s great to see our vision for this vital community facility moving closer to reality. We are extremely grateful for the funding FCC Communities Foundation has given us and we’re looking forward to seeing it open for the children to enjoy.”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, FCC Community Foundations local grant manager says: “It’s wonderful to see something we have funded starting to take shape on site and we look forward to work being completed and ready to be enjoyed by the local children. We are always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities, and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”

Road Safety Week 2022 will take place from 14 to 20 November 2022.

The theme of Road Safety Week 2022 is SAFE ROADS FOR ALL. Every life on our roads matters, and every death and injury is preventable.

Road Safety Week gives us all the opportunity to remember people killed or injured on UK roads, and raise funds to help Brake care for road victims and campaign for safe roads for all.

We will raise awareness of key areas of road safety the Government supports, including safe roads, safe vehicles and speeds, the new hierarchy of road users, and the importance of inclusivity to keep us all safe on the roads, no matter who we are, or how we travel.
