Councillor Vacancies at Elloughton cum Brough Town Council

Are you aged 18 or over? Are you a UK, Commonwealth, RoI or EU citizen? Are you an elector in the parish? Have occupied (owner or tenant) land or premises in the parish for the last 12 months? Have worked in the parish for the last 12 months? Have lived in or within 3 miles of the parish for the last 12 months?

Elloughton cum Brough Town Council has 2 vacancies for co-opted Town Councillors. No specific qualifications are needed and the most important requirements are to have a keen interest in Elloughton cum Brough and to be prepared to play an active part in the Councils work. Initial training for all new councillors is available as well as regular ongoing training opportunities. Councillors are required to attend the monthly Full Council meetings plus the monthly meetings of committees to which they are members. The term of office of the two vacancies will run until the next ordinary election which is in May 2023. The closing date for applications is 4th September 2020

Co-option will take place on Tuesday 15th September 2020 at 7.00pm in the Full Council Meeting proposed to take place on Zoom, where you will asked to address council for no more than five minutes to expand on your written submission.

You cannot stand for election if:

  • You are the subject of a bankruptcy restriction order or interim order 

  • Have, within 5 years before the day of taking office, been convicted in the UK of any offence and have had a prison sentence (whether suspended or not) for a period of over 3 months without the option of a fine

  • Work for Elloughton cum Brough Town Council
